Laylat al-Qadr
Laylat al-Qadr is a night that occurs in the month of Ramadan, in the last ten days of it, and as for determining it in the last ten days, there is a difference of opinion regarding it according to the different authentic narrations. Its virtue is great for those who revive it, and it is a general night for all Muslims. Its revival is through prayer, the Quran, and remembrance. Seeking forgiveness and supplication from sunset to dawn, and Tarawih prayers in Ramadan to revive them.
All Muslims believe that on this night God, the Blessed and Exalted, revealed the Quran – i.e., the command of Gabriel, peace be upon him, so Gabriel took the Quran from the remembrance, i.e., the preserved tablet, and sent it down to a place in the lowest heaven called “Bayt al- ‘Izza” all at once. The Prophet SWT dispersed according to causes and incidents, and the first thing that was revealed to him in counting that night were five verses from Surat Al-Alaq.
The reason for naming Laylatul Qadr
Laylatul Qadr is called that; because it has a destiny due to the revelation of the Qur’an in it, or the angels descending in it, or the blessing, mercy, and forgiveness that descend in it, or because the one who revives it becomes its destiny. And it was said: Destiny here in the sense of predestination, by opening the signifier, which is adjacent to the judiciary, and the meaning is that it evaluates the rulings of that year; for the Almighty, he said: ﴿٤﴾ فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ (4. In it, every wise command is made distinct.) And in it, Sadr Al-Nawawi, may God have mercy on him, said these words: It was called the Night of Decree because the angels wrote down the predestination in it because of the Almighty’s saying: (4. In it, every wise command is made distinct.) And Ibn Abbas says in the Almighty’s saying: (4. In it, every wise command is made distinct.): (He writes from the mother of the book on the Night of Decree what is in the Sunnah of good and bad, livelihoods and deadlines, even the pilgrim, and that you see a man walking in the markets, and his name has occurred in the dead.
