the journey of the heart towards its Lord

Ibn al-Qayyim said: ‘when Musa travelled to Khidr he experienced hunger and tiredness so he said to his servant boy: ‘Give us our lunch, this journey of ours is very tiring’ (al-Kahf: 62).
That is a journey to the creation.

When his Lord appointed for him 30 days and then completed it with 10 more, he did not experience hunger nor fatigue since it is a journey to his Lord.
Likewise is the journey of the heart towards its Lord, it does not find in it the misery and fatigue that is found in the journey to some of the creation.

قال ابن القيم:”لما سافر موسى إلى الخضر وجد فى طريقه مس الجوع والنصب فقال لفتاه: (ءاتنا غداءنا لقد لقينا من سفرنا هذا نصبا) سورة الكهف:62.
فانه سفر إلى مخلوق.
ولما واعده ربه ثلاثين ليلة وأتمها بعشر لم يجد مس الجوع ولا النصب فانه سفر إلى ربه تعالى، وهكذا سفر القلب وسيره إلى ربه لا يجد فيه من الشفاء والنصب ما يجده في سفره لبعض المخلوقين..”
